Korean singer and actress Hyeri is set to make a comeback in the upcoming series ‘Friendly Competition,’ based on a popular webtoon.
The show, confirmed on February 6, tells the story of Seulgi, who moves to a fancy girls’ high school in Seoul after her dad’s sudden passing. As she befriends Jae Yee, the smartest student in the class, she discovers a mysterious side to her friend. This GL (Girls’ Love) drama unfolds the secrets surrounding a puzzling death.
Hyeri plays the role of Yoo Jae Yee, a character with a high IQ and unique talents, not conforming to traditional beauty standards. The series explores the journey of these two characters falling for each other, dealing with doubts and vigilance.
Friendly competition ventures into the lives of teenagers facing various challenges, touching on mature themes like drugs, self-harm, and masturbation, earning it a 19+ rating. The screenplay is by writer Kim Tae Hee.
In addition to her role in ‘Friendly Competition,’ Hyeri is also busy with the movie ‘Victory’ and filming ‘Tropical Night.’
