A new Korean drama “Love Song for Illusion” has started airing from January 2, 2024 on Viki. It is about a memoryless assassin with a vengeful past who becomes the concubine of a prince with two souls. Here is the recap of its first episode.
In the first episode, we see young Prince Sajo Hyun and his mean dad, Sajo Seung. His dad doesn’t like that the prince likes drawing clothes, not war stuff. To show him war is serious, his dad makes him watch a noble family leader get killed. Then his dad becomes king by getting rid of the old king.
When the prince grows up, he stays in his room a lot to avoid his dad, the king. But he also dresses up as a person who sews clothes in a shop. Nobody knows it’s him. He has another side of him called Ak-Hee, who likes a girl named Yeon Woo.
When Yeon Woo was little, she saw Sajo Seung kill her dad. She decides to get back at him and becomes an assassin named Kyera. She dresses up as a dancer to teach rude rich people a lesson. She goes to the sewing shop and meets the prince for the first time.
In the palace, people make fun of the prince for not acting like a prince. His helper tells him not to fall asleep, or Ak-Hee will come out. The next day, the prince, who doesn’t like hunting, suddenly becomes really good at it. That means Ak-Hee is back.
Ak-Hee meets Kyera and finds out she knows the king. He feels jealous when she says she had a good first meeting with the king. Ak-Hee starts to like her and wants her to like him, not the king.
Kyera and her friends plan to attack the king. But things don’t go as planned. The king picks someone else as his new wife, but Kyera takes her spot. Later, she faints, and the prince catches her. The next day, she doesn’t remember anything. We find out Ak-Hee made her forget things on purpose.
Kyera wakes up in the palace. She asks who she is and learns she’s the prince’s new wife, Consort Hyo. The prince comes in, hugs her, and says she’s finally his. We see a memory where Ak-Hee made her forget stuff and asked the king to give him the new wife. The episode ends with Ak-Hee saying he’ll make Kyera love him.
