It is one of the most-watched Korean dramas & is a popular drama of actor Gong Yoo. It is also known by the name Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

Summary –

The drama includes the story revolving around a Goblin, Grim Reaper, a high school student & a chicken shop owner along with their relationships in the past.

Main Characters

Gong Yoo plays the role of “Kim Shin” who is a Goblin & is now immortal. He was a general in Goryeo’s military who died a tragic death in the past.

Kim Go Eun plays the role of “Ji Eun Tak” who is a high school student & can see dead people. She claims to be the Goblin’s bride who can end his immortal life.

Plot

Don’t read if you haven’t watched the drama & don’t want spoilers.

The drama starts with Kim Shin being framed as a traitor & killed by the young king, Wang Yeo. He is cursed by the Almighty God to stay immortal with a sword in his chest which can be pulled out by the Goblin’s bride ending his immortality.

Later, Kim Shin meets Ji Eun Tak, a cheerful high school student who claims to be his bride & can see the sword in his chest. He also meets a Grim Reaper with no name.

The Goblin’s nephew, Yoo Deok Hwa leases the Goblin’s house to the Grim Reaper, and the two end up living under the same roof. Ji Eun Tak starts working part-time at a chicken store run by a woman named Sunny.

While the drama goes on, we come to know about their fate, why they met, why they fell in love, their tragic past & how they react & cope up with their relationships.

In the past life, the Grim Reaper was Wang Yeo, the king who ordered to kill Kim Shin. Sunny was Wang Yeo’s wife & Kim Shin’s sister. Ji Eun Tak has no past life.

You would think that this is a normal romantic story of a couple, but NO! This drama is more than just romance. It is filled with love, sorrow, friendship, bromance & suspense.
